Even though most sources have reported that Tom Hardy will play Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron will play the female lead in “Mad Max 4: Fury Road,” you’ll have trouble finding a statement by director George Miller that confirms that.
It doesn’t make sense that Hardy would even be cast as the lead, since Miller has said many times that he wants an Australian actor for role of Max. Plus, Mel Gibson himself is now rumored to reprise his old role.
And what about Theron? Apparently she’s not the lead after all.

During a press junket for “How to Train Your Dragon,” Jay Baruchel let slip that his “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” co-star Teresa Palmer has already been cast in “Mad Max 4.”

“She’s going to be doing Mad Max 4 with Miller,” said Baruchel. “She’s the main chick in Fury Road. She’s going to be there for over a year.”

This won’t be the first time that Palmer would be working with Miller. Both she and Baruchel were cast as villains in Miller’s now-dead “Justice League of America” film.
